Removing Content
The Infinitus CMS workflow allows for several ways to remove content from the public view. This page identifies the quickest / easiest way to make something no longer show when a visitor comes to your website. Please note the warnings for some of the items listed below.
Use the Public Checkbox#
One of the best ways to hide something is to use the Public button. This solution is quick to do, and also affords you the option to reactivate the item at a later date.
For the sake of this example, we are using a News item. But, this solution works for all other datatypes.
- Edit the page by clicking the icon.
- Scroll down the to the Public checkbox and uncheck it.
- Click Save.
Helpful Tip: Once an item has been made not Public, it will be highlighted in the list view, so you can easily identify and reactivate it at any time.
Delete the Item#
A more permanent way to remove content is to DELETE it. This solution takes away your ability to reactivate the item at a later date.
For the sake of this example, we are using a News item. But, this solution works for all other datatypes.
- Click the down arrow to the right of the icon.
- Select Delete.
- Click Ok when prompted to confirm.
Helpful Tip: Before choosing to DELETE an item, we suggest making it not Public first (see above).
Deleting a File#
Removing a file, like deleting a page, is a permanent solution. If there is a chance a file (ex. image or PDF) might be in use on the website somewhere or that you might use a file at a later date, you might reconsider deleting the file.
- Navigate to the file in the Media Manager (see options for accessing the Media Manager here).
- Right-click on the file and select Remove / Delete.
- Click Ok when prompted to confirm.
Helpful Tip: Before choosing to DELETE an item, you might consider Renaming the file (as any direct links to it will no longer work).
